Catalina Villa was born in Bogota Colombia. She completed her primary and secondary studies in a private german-suiss school, thereby obtaining a Baccalaureat at the age of 18. 1999 she moved from Colombia to Miami, where she initiates her studies in law in the University of Miami.. A year later she moves once again, this time to Washington D.C. to complete an internship in Congress, with the collaboration of Lleana Ros-Lehtinen. Once she completed her internship, she decides to move back to Bogota with the purpose of finishing her studies in Law in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. However, the year 2003 represents a radical change in Catalina’s life, as she decides to shift her studies and persue another career ; Industrial Design. She then begins a 5 year educational program in Industrial Design in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. In the year 2005, she continues her studies in Paris at the ENSCI, École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle. In the year 2006, Catalina seizes the opportunity to develop a professional experience by working with various Architecture and Design Firms. In Madrid she worked with Fashion Designer Ximena Lara and with the design and conception part of Prêt a Porter. She also works with the designers Santiago Cirugeda in Sevilla, Mariscal in Barcelona, and in the architectural and design agency Miralles. Thanks to this braod range of fields and experiences, Catalina has also had the opportunity to work with the Very important international design Brands. Two of her design for perfume bottles are chosen for production by ESCADA. These perfumes are availble in the American European and South American markets and are called Desire Me and Incredible Me. Another of her perfume bottle designs is chosen by GUESS BY MARCIANO and is also in production. Her designs are chosen for their formality, the fine materials utilized, and the fine range of colors. Her braod range of experiences are then completed when she graduates and obtains a Diploma as an industrial designer in the year 2007 (yo pondria en donde aca tambien). Since the year 2008 she works independtly and freelances in the city of Paris. She also has made part of the firm UNDOSTRIAL, where she worked with the development of the manufactured fabrication of several types of glasses. In 2009, till the present moment, Catalina works as an interior designer in the architectural firm Levincent Samson Architectes. Her work here consist in designing several objects and pieces of furniture as well as decorating public and private spaces. Her passion for design has also led her to explore other design areas. Ever since she was a child Catalina has designed various pieces of clothing, and she ultimately has explored fashion design more profoundly. As a parallel activity throughout the last 10 years, she has designed and fabricated blouses, shirts, tops, accesories and jewels. Her latest innovative design ideas however can be seen in her first jacket collection, which she has recently released towards the end of the year 2009.
